I’ve been celebrating these women in my paintings and bringing them all together for a good time" - Kaylene Whiskey, 2020 About the Artist Born in Indulkana, a remote Aboriginal community in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia, Kaylene spent her childhood steeped in 1980s pop culture. Evoking familiar gestures of the everyday, her paintings use bright colours rendering pop stars in flat pictorial space, engaging with Whiskey's own life in rural Australia.
